Simon throws perfect game for Groton in win over Hamlin

HAYTI – Cole Simon threw a five-inning perfect game, and Groton pounded out 13 hits in a 15-0 win over Hamlin in American Legion baseball Monday night.

Simon struck out six batters on the way to the pitching gem.

Meanwhile, Groton scored four runs in each of the first, second and fourth innings, and added a single run in the third and two more in the fifth.

Cade Larson had a two-run single to highlight the first inning, and Logan Ringgenberg delivered a two-run single in the second.

Brevin Fliehs had an RBI hit in the second and Braxton Imrie had a run-scoring single in the third.

Larson and Colby Dunker then produced two-run doubles in the fourth frame, before Fliehs cracked an RBI triple in the fifth and scored a single by Bradin Althoff.

Larson finished with a pair of hits and knocked in four runs. Fliehs led the squad with three hits and drove in a pair.

Dunker collected two hits and two RBI. Althoff had a pair of hits and Ringgerberg drove in two runs.
