REDFIELD – Dell Rapids continued to feature strong pitching performances on the way to another win at the State B Legion Baseball Tournament on Saturday. One day after giving up just one run, Dells blanked Salem-Montrose-Canova 6-0 in winner’s bracket action. Tabor eliminated Platte 8-1 earlier in the day.

Jack Henry struck out 10 batters and allowed just one hit over six innings for Dell Rapids. He also had a two-run double in a pivotal five-run second inning. All of the runs came with two outs. Brayden Pankonen also drove in a run during the frame as Dells broke the game open. A pair of runs came in on a Salem-Montrose-Canova error.

Dell Rapids will meet Redfield, the other unbeaten team in the tourney, around 6 tonight. Salem-Montrose-Canova takes on Elk Point-Jefferson in an elimination contest around 1 this afternoon.

Tabor exploded for seven runs in the bottom half of the first inning on the way to its win over Platte.

Riley Rothschadl had an RBI double, Logan Winckler drove in a run with a single, Brady Bierema had a sacrifice fly, while other runs came in on a walk, a hit batter and an error. Tabor had a pair of hits and took advantage of three walks, three errors and a hit batter during the fame.

Tanner Dyk drove in Platte’s lone run.

Rothschadl finished with three hits and also struck out eight batters in 3 and 2/3 innings on the mound. Winckler added a pair of hits.

Dyk and Aiden Bultje each had two hits for Platte.

Tabor will face Clark-Willow Lake in an elimination game around 3:30 this afternoon.
