Elk Point-Jefferson holds off Salem-Montrose-Canova

REDFIELD – Elk Point-Jefferson scored three runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed on the way to eliminating Salem-Montrose-Canova 5-3 at the State B Legion Baseball Tournament on Sunday afternoon. Kayden Moore had a two-run single in the first frame to help give EPJ a lead and the Huskies held off S-M-C the rest of the way. Salem-Montrose-Canova closed the deficit to 3-2 with single runs in the second and fourth innings. Weston Remmers had an RBI double in the second and a sacrifice fly in the fourth, however, S-M-C had a runner thrown out at the plate in the second and another thrown out at third base in the fourth. Elk Point-Jefferson extended its lead back to three with a pair of runs in the fifth on an RBI double by Ben Swatek, and a sac fly from Jordan Anderson.
