Braun, Schaefbauer capture Sanford titles

SIOUX FALLS – A pair of Aberdeen golfers won championships during the Sanford Futures golf tournament on Tuesday.

Olivia Braun, who attends Aberdeen Central, won the High School Girls’ division with a 36-hole total of 154 after rounds of 79 and 75. Miller’s Jayce Pugh finished second with a total score of 157.

Braun also won the tournament title a year ago with an identical two-day score of 154.

Lucas Schaefbauer won the College Men’s division. The former Aberdeen Roncalli standout, who plays for South Dakota State, finished with a 54-hole score of 208, to win the division by three strokes. Schaefbauer had rounds of 73, 67 and 68.

Watertown’s Jake Olson won the High School Boys’ division after shooting rounds of 74 and 68 for a two-day total of 142 and a two-stroke victory.
