Menno rallies past Northville at B amateur tourney

MITCHELL – The Menno Mad Frogs scored seven runs over the final three innings to rally for an 8-3 victory over the Northville Merchants at the State B Amateur Baseball Tournament on Friday afternoon.

After Menno scored an early run, Northville grabbed a two-run lead by scoring three runs in the bottom half of the third inning. Carson Simes scored on a ground out by Greg Heyne, before Ethan Beyers drove in Ben Fischbach and Noah Fischbach with a single.

However, the Mad Frogs scored one run in the seventh, took the lead with two runs in the eighth, and then took control with four runs in the ninth when Dylan Lehr plated one with a single, Spencer Schultz knocked in two with a triple and then came home on a wild pitch.

Lehr, Schultz and Dustin Livingston each had a pair of hits for Menno. Macon Oplinger pitched a complete game, striking out seven Northville batters.

Simes and Beyers each finished with two hits for the Merchants.
