Wolves picked to finish seventh, Marshall Defensive POY

The Northern State football team was selected to finish in a tie for seventh in the Northern Sun Intercollege Conference preseason football poll.

The Wolves received 75 points, as did Sioux Falls.

Bemidji State, Northern’s first opponent of the season, tops the preseason poll with four first-place votes. Second-rated Minnesota Duluth received five first-place votes. Third-rated Wayne State and fourth-rated Augustana each received a pair of first-place votes.

Northern defensive lineman Ian Marshall was chosen as the preseason NSIC Defensive Player of the Year, while Bemidji State quarterback Brandon Alt was selected as the preseason NSIC Offensive Player of the Year.

In addition to Marshall, Northern’s other player to watch this season is receiver Dewaylon Ingram.
