TEA – Aberdeen Central made it five straight wins and two straight shutouts Tuesday night with a 4-0 non-conference boys’ soccer victory over Tea Area on the road.

The Golden Eagles netted their third shutout victory in the last four matches.

“I thought this was our most complete game of the year,” said Central coach Lance Mohr.

Tyler Bain scored twice in the first half for the Golden Eagles, who got a bit of a challenge from Mohr before the game.

“It’s hard to get on a bus on a Tuesday and go anywhere and win a game,” Mohr said. “Tea Area is a good team. I challenged (the guys) before the game … can we get ourselves off the bus? Can we make another statement (Tuesday) by being able to travel and play at a really high level?”

Central certainly rose to that challenge, turning back several Titan advances in the first half, then all but sealing the victory with Manuel Munoz’s goal early in the second half.

Mohr praised his team’s defensive buy-in, which he said has gotten better with each game since that opening stretch of the season.

“They’ve all bought in to defending as a team,” Mohr said. “All 11 players, not just the back four. And today, in particular, Camden (Fauth) came up with some huge saves, especially in the first half, to keep it a shutout.”

Creighton Aberle netted Central’s fourth goal late in the second half to complete the 4-0 victory.

With four games left in the regular season, Aberdeen Central is looking forward to playing three of those matches on home turf. But first, the Golden Eagles will have a handful of days off before hosting Watertown on Monday.

“Our schedule lately has been a bit of a grind,” Mohr acknowledged. “Our legs are showing it. We’ve got to use these days off until Monday to rest and recover and get our legs back under us.”
