FAULKTON – Aberdeen Christian made it a battle, but fell short in the end.

Faulkton defeated the Knights 25-18, 25-16, 21-25, 25-12 in a Lake Region Conference volleyball match Thursday night.

The Knights jumped out to a 15-8 lead in set one before the Trojans finished the set on a 17-3 run. Faulkton also took set two.

Christian coach Sara Powell said the team was prepared for what Faulkton would bring to the court.

“We knew this would be a tougher match, but the girls came out ready to play,” Powell said.

The Knights responded by taking set three, and Powell said her team fought through adversity during the match.

“The girls kept fighting that was for sure,” Powell said. “We played well as a team. We seemed to fight for every point.”

Faulkton finished the match with a convincing set four win. Powell attributed the loss in set four to errors her team committed.

“The fourth set we just had too many errors,” Powell said, “but overall happy how they played.”

Addison Melius led a balanced attack for the Trojans with 13 kills, followed by Kelli Stoecker with 12 as the hosts racked up 43 kills on the evening. Carley Cotton topped Faulkton with four aces.

Chloe Bosma led the Knights with 8 kills and an ace, while Ari Johnson had 5 kills and 5 blocks.

“Ari and Chloe had an amazing game at the net,” Powell said.

Aberdeen Christian (7-13) will play at the Redfield Classic on Saturday, while Faulkton (13-6) will host Ipswich on Tuesday.
