Langford Area edges Britton-Hecla in five-set thriller

BRITTON – Langford Area won the opening two sets (one in extra points), dropped the next two, and then edged Britton-Hecla in the fifth to record a 25-18, 30-28, 22-25, 19-25, 15-13 non-conference volleyball victory Monday night.

Bayleann Moen led the Lions with 16 kills, 27 digs, an ace serve and a block. Eliana Darling added seven kills and Megan Gustafson finished with five. Tawnee Nelson had 27 set assists.

Kaegan Fredrickson topped Britton-Hecla with 18 kills to go along with 15 digs. Emma Kraft and Tyianna Schott added seven and six kills, respectively. Schott also had six blocks.

Serving: Langford Area 102-107 8 aces (Alex Darling 27-30 1 ace, Eliana Darling 15-15 1 ace, Bayleann Moen 15-16 1 ace); Britton-Hecla 109 (Kaegan Fredrickson 29, Heather Storbakken 29, Addison Wade 19).

Hitting: Langford Area 122-147 35 kills (Moen 27-30 16 kills, E. Darling 24-29 7 kills, Megan Gustafson 35-40 5 kills); Britton-Hecla 45 kills (Fredrickson 18, Emma Kraft 7, Tyianna Schott 6).

Setting: Langford Area 167-168 28 assists (Tawnee Nelson 153-154 27 assists, Moen 7-7 1 assist); Britton-Hecla 131 (Storbakken 65, Jayden Bender 50, Abby Lee 7).

Digs: Langford Area 130 (Moen 27, Gustafson 25, E. Darling 24); Britton-Hecla 80 (Annika Tank 23, Storbakken 16, Fredrickson 15).
