FREDERICK – Aberdeen Christian had three hitters with double-digit kills to help power a 25-21, 25-23, 15-25, 28-26 Lake Region Conference volleyball win over Leola-Frederick Thursday night.

The victory avenged a four-set loss to the Titans earlier this season.

Christian won two close sets before the hosts fought back with a third-set victory.

“They came out strong the first two sets, and the third set we had some errors that just cost us,” said Christian coach Sara Powell, “but the girls really wanted the fourth set and fought for every point.”

Leola-Frederick appeared to be on the verge of leveling the match, building a seven-point advantage in the fourth set.

“I called a timeout just to have them regroup and focus on each point,” Powell said, “and that’s what they did.”

The Titans led 23-21 and eventually had a pair of set points. However, the Knights responded and had a match point of their own that Leola-Frederick fought off. Christian finished off the match on its second match point when Payton Skarin drove a ball down the line for the final kill.

Jolie Fogarty had 15 kills to lead a balanced Christian attack. Skarin followed with 11, and Ari Johnson contributed 10.

“I’m extremely happy to see three of my hitters in double-digit kills,” Powell said.

Alexis Isakson led the Christian defense with 35 digs on the evening.

Sofia Losure had 14 kills and Laura Sumption 13 to top the Titans.

The Knights improved to 10-17 on the season with the victory.

“The girls worked really well as a team tonight,” Powell said, “and that’s something I have been working hard on with them.”

Christian has back-to-back home matches to start next week, hosting Webster on Monday and Ipswich on Tuesday.
