Blanchard tied for eighth following open day at AA tourney

BRANDON – The Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles finished day one of the Class AA State Boys’ Golf Tournament with one golfer currently in the top ten at the Brandon Golf Course.

Central golfer Carter Blanchard shot a round of 73, tying Watertown’s Gabe Norberg for a spot in eighth-place.

Watertown’s Jake Olson is the leader after day one with a score of 69, one stroke ahead of teammate Kaden Rylance and O’Gorman golfers Taten Mauney and Nolan Cinco, who each scored 70.

Other Central golfers after day one include Peyton Brust and Cole Brust, who are in an eight-way tie for 59th place with scores of 86, Quincy Madsen in 84th place with a score of 90, Kyler Senger in a three-way tie for 85th place with a score of 91, and Jackson Ravellette in a five-way tie for 88th place with a score of 92.

The Golden Eagles currently stand 12th in team standings with a score of 335. Watertown leads the team standings with a score of 286, one stroke ahead of O’Gorman (287). Brandon Valley (301), Harrisburg (305), and Mitchell (310) round out the current top five.

The tournament concludes today, with tee off beginning at 9 a.m.
