Golden Eagles finish 10th at State AA golf tourney

BRANDON – The Aberdeen Central boys’ golf team earned a top ten team finish to wrap up the Class AA State Boys’ Golf Tournament at the Brandon Golf Course on Tuesday.

The Golden Eagles finished in 10th place in the team standings with a score of 650, one stroke behind Rapid City Stevens (649) and six strokes ahead of Sioux Falls Jefferson (656). Watertown won the team title with a score of 578, five strokes ahead of O’Gorman (583).

Individually, Cole Brust led Central with a score of 157, tying O’Gorman’s Liam Sarmiento for 27th place. Carter Blanchard finished in a three-way tie for 34th with a score of 160, while Peyton Brust tied for fourth place with a score of 163.

Kyler Senger tied for 71st with a score of 174, while Jackson Ravellette tied for 78th (176). Quincy Madsen tied for 81st (178).

The Golden Eagles showed a 20-stroke improvement as a team compared to Monday’s opening round of the tourney.

Watertown golfer Jake Olson won the individual title with a score of 135, six strokes ahead of O’Gorman’s Taten Mauney (141). Watertown’s Kaden Rylance (144), Brandon Valley’s Carter Peterson (146), and O’Gorman’s Jayden Antonen (147) rounded out the top five.
