BRITTON – Aberdeen Christian outlasted Britton-Hecla for a 23-25, 26-24, 25-21, 22-25, 15-5 non-conference volleyball win in the regular season finale on Monday.
The Knights dropped the first set, which Christian coach Sara Powell said was the result of several mistakes.
“Errors hurt us in the first set, but we regrouped and came out stronger the next two sets,” Powell said.
Throughout the match, Christian relied on a strong serving game, finishing with 20 aces, with Sawyer Schwan leading the way with 12.
“Sawyer really led the team tonight with her serving,” Powell said. “She picked apart where they were struggling and just kept it going.”
Powell was also proud of the defensive improvements throughout the match.
“Defensively we continue to improve with each game, and I couldn’t be more proud of them all,” Powell said.
Powell was pleased to see contributions from several players and said the team needs to stay focused as it heads into region play next week.
“So many contributed tonight and that’s what I love seeing,” Powell said. “We need to stay focused and keep the momentum going for playoffs next week.”
Sterling Brassfield topped a balanced hitting attack for the Braves finishing with nine kills. Tiyanna Schott and Emma Kraft each contributed seven.
