Miller boys win Region 4A championship

OACOMA – Miller had the top two individual boys’ runners and three of the top five on the way to winning the team title at the Region 4A Cross County Meet Wednesday afternoon.

Pierce Baumberger won the boys’ race in a time of 16:44 with teammate Alex Schumacher in second, eight seconds off the pace. Miller’s Isaiah Gortmaker finished fifth. McLaughlin’s Jayden Taken Alive and Wamni Kills Crow were third and fourth, respectively, one second apart

North Central was runner-up in boys’ team points, led by Gabe Johnson’s ninth place finish.

Chamberlain, behind the individual first place finish of Kinsey Evans (19:09), won the girls’ team crown. Grace Phillips of Chamberlain finished third (19:49) as four Cubs landed in the top nine positions.

Heidi Olson of Mobridge-Pollock finished fourth (20:19) with teammate Faith Heil seventh.
