BRITTON – It took a few extra points, but Aberdeen Roncalli swept past Britton-Hecla in Northeast Conference volleyball action Thursday night.

The Cavaliers won the contest by set scores of 25-14, 28-26, and 25-20.

Roncalli racked up eight aces on the night, led by Jaidyn Feickert with five to help set the tone for the match.

“Jaidyn had a strong serving night,” said Roncalli coach Mandy Smid, “and the girls did a nice job working through defensively.”

After Roncalli controlled the opening set, the Braves did not go quietly. The hosts battled back and extended the second set to extra points before the Cavaliers eventually prevailed.

“Britton-Hecla was very scrappy and extended several plays throughout the night,” Smid said.

Roncalli then claimed the third set to finish off the sweep.

The Cavaliers had 35 kills on the evening topped by Rylee Voeller with 13.

“Rylee Voeller mixed up our offense with some off speed balls to keep their defense on their toes,” Smid said.

McKenna O’Keefe contributed nine kills and 16 digs.

Tiyanna Schott paced the Braves with seven kills and an ace. Emma Kraft contributed six kills.

Roncalli, 12-3 on the season, plays at Mobridge-Pollock (19-3) on Tuesday.
