Wolves fall to Concordia-St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia-St. Paul came up big on defense to hand Northern State a 20-14 setback in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference football action Saturday afternoon. After the Wolves had taken a 14-7 lead in the middle of the second quarter, the Golden Bears kept Northern off the scoreboard the rest of the way, including a last-minute red-zone defensive stand that ended on an incomplete pass in the end zone on the final play of the game. Colton Hackel tossed a pair of touchdown passes for Northern, one to Clayton Grueneich and another to Gavin Giesler. The Golden Bears scored the final 13 points of the contest, including a pair of field goals by former NSU kicker Payton Eue. Northern's DeWaylon Ingram finished with five catches for 89 yards, while Brett Brenton rushed for 69 yards. Jake Adams topped the NSU defense with 14 total tackles. The Wolves, 4-5 on the season and in the NSIC, have the final home game Saturday, hosting Augustana at 2 p.m. at Dacotah Ba
