BISMARCK, N.D. – Northern State shot a blistering 71 percent from three-point range to help fuel a 77-64 win over Mary in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opener for both squads Tuesday night.
The Wolves made 12 of 17 3-pointers in the contest, led by Alayna Benike who made five of her six shots from distance on the way to a career-high 20 points.
Decontee Smith contributed 14 points for NSU, while Madelyn Bragg had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Rianni Fillipi finished with 11 points and eight assists, and Brynn Alfson added nine points.
Northern State improved to 4-1 on the season with the victory. The Wolves host the University of Sioux Falls at 3 p.m. Saturday at Wachs Arena.
