It was a record-breaking victory for the Northern State men’s basketball team on Saturday evening.

The No. 21 Wolves nailed a school record 20 three-point field goals on the way to a 116-68 non-conference victory over Trinity Bible during the Dacotah Bank Classic at Wachs Arena. The total broke the previous record for 3-pointers in a game set back in 1994 against South Dakota State.

Josh Dilling led the long-range assult by making seven of his eight attempts from beyond the arc. A total of five different Wolves had at least two treys as the squad went 20-of-44 from 3-point range.

Northern broke the game open early and scored 66 first-half points. Dilling finished with 25 points in just 20 minutes of action. Trey Longstreet added a career-high 14 points, Tobi Obiora contributed 13 and Jacksen Moni followed with 11. Seven different Wolves scored at least eight points in the victory.

Marcellus Mencarini topped Trinity Bible with 22 points, and Quincy Wilson added 17.

The Wolves, 3-4 on the season, host Minnesota State, Moorhead in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference game at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Wachs Arena.
