RAPID CITY – The Aberdeen Central boys’ wrestling program picked up a pair of convincing dual victories a day ahead of one of the biggest tournaments of the year Thursday night, dropping just four total decisions en route to a 63-6 win over Sioux Falls Washington and a 66-6 win over Sioux Falls Lincoln.
Golden Eagle coach Donnie Bowden was pleased with his team’s performance.
“We didn’t give up any bonus points,” he said. “And we went out and found some bonus points on our end. Everyone produced.”
Bowden said he was able to juggle his lineup a bit between the two duals, giving multiple guys opportunities to wrestle, but the results were the same.
“Solid team effort just like it was last weekend,” he said. “It doesn’t matter who we put in there, they got the job done.”
Paxton Ewing (113 pounds) and Ayden Gisi (215/285 pounds) each ended their days with a pair of pins.
Will Allen (120) recorded a pin and a major decision and Ridley Waldo (144) had a fall and a technical fall.
The Golden Eagles will turn their attention to the Rapid City Invitational, which begins today. The event features 60 teams from a six-state region.
“It was a good learning experience for some of our guys,” Bowden said. “Good tune-up and a good opportunity to get some hands on some guys before (Friday).”
