DICKINSON, N.D. – Earlier this month, the Dickinson Midgets came to Aberdeen and edged the Cougars in overtime. Friday night, the Midgets won another one-goal contest, taking a 3-2 girls’ hockey victory.

Unlike the previous meeting, Dickinson did not need any late-game heroics in the rematch, leading 3-1 after the second period.

The Cougars received a pair of goals from Aiden Raap, one in the first period that tied the score and was quickly matched by the Midgets, and another in the third period.

“We match up well,” said Cougars coach Rob Weinmeister of the games against Dickinson. “I could tell we only practiced twice this week with the holiday, as we just weren’t clicking. We were short a couple players, but we still need to step up and compete. I would have liked to see us move the puck quicker with less hesitation.”

The Cougars are back in action today in another non-league contest against Mandan.

Weinmeister schedules solid non-league foes with the goal of getting better for the post season.

“That’s why we schedule these games,” Weinmeister said, “to help us get better with the goal of playing our best team hockey at the end of the season.”
