Golden Eagles kick off gymnastics season

The Aberdeen Central gymnastics team got its season off to a positive start Thursday night, as the Golden Eagles hosted Jamestown in a dual at the Auxiliary Gym. And while the visiting Blue Jays held a 136.60 to 129.00 advantage in team points at the end of the night, Central coach Mickey Everson was pleased with the way her team performed. “I think everybody was feeling (some nerves),” Everson said. “We have some skills we’re ready to throw, but we held back today, because they’re just not quite there. I think the girls were wary about doing it, so we just held back a little bit and just did what we knew was safe. So the potential is there to do more. But even some of the things we did do paid off.” Central was led by the trio of Addison Everson, Alexis Bomesberger and Johanna Jarrott, who finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the all-around competition.
