GROTON – Groton bolted out to an early lead en route to a 43-14 non-conference girls’ basketball win over Aberdeen Christian on Thursday.

“Another rough night for us,” Knights coach Cristian Martinez said of the game. “Our offense wasn’t good the whole night.”

The Tigers held a 16-2 advantage after the first quarter and continued to stifle the Knights offense throughout the game, eventually taking a 27-5 lead into the halftime intermission.

Martinez gave credit to Groton for making shots and forcing turnovers.

“They shot great and forced our team into a lot of turnovers,” Martinez said.

Groton was able to outscore Aberdeen Christian 16-9 in the second half to cruise to victory.

The Tigers were led by Brooklyn Hansen with 11 points, while Jerica Locke had nine points and four assists.
