MELLETTE – North Central used a 22-9 second-quarter burst to open a double-digit lead on the way to a 51-44 Lake Region Conference girls’ basketball win over Northwestern Friday night.

Amree Vander Vorst scored 21 points to lead the Thunder, while Ella Batie contributed 13 points and seven rebounds.

Tara Blachford’s 12 points paced a balanced attack for Northwestern.
