NSU women receive bye, men play at Winona in NSIC tourney

The Northern State women have a first-round bye as they head into this week’s Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference basketball tournament, while the NSU men will play at Winona State in the opening round.

The Wolves women enter the tourney as the fourth seed and will play the winner of the Southwest Minnesota State and Augustana game at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls.

The Northern men, the 11th seed, head to sixth-seeded Winona on Wednesday for a first-round game. The two squads split a pair of tight contests during the regular season with Northern winning by two points at Winona, and the Warriors grabbing a one-point win on a last-second shot at Wachs Arena. The winner of that game advances to face Minnesota State Moorhead at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Pentagon.
