Second-half surge carries Wolves past Mary

Northern State exploded for 58 second-half points on the way to an 85-71 men’s college basketball win over Mary Thursday night at Wachs Arena.

The Wolves trailed by two points at halftime before taking control in the final 20 minutes of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference contest. NSU shot 68 percent from the field in the second half. The hosts were also perfect in 22 free-throw attempts in the game.

Jacksen Moni poured in 31 points and hauled down 13 rebounds to lead Northern, which snapped a three-game slide. Josh Dilling contributed 18 points, while Andrew Bergan finished with a career-high 14.

NSU, 8-13 overall and 6-9 in the NSIC, hit the road for a game against St. Cloud State on Saturday.
