The South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association girls’ basketball all-state teams announced today feature a lot of familiar names.

The teams are highlighted by Class A first team selections junior Krista Langager of Sisseton and sophomore Addison Neuendorf of Hamlin.

Here is a short of each of the area players, followed by the full list of honorees:

CLASS A

First Team

Krista Langager, Sisseton. “Krista has come into her own these last two years and has only improved and keeps getting better,” said Sisseton coach Sara Lincoln. “She is the most humble person you can meet. She’s not only strong physically, but she stays very composed and is her team’s number one hype man.”

Addison Neuendorf, Hamlin. “She has great court vision, as she led our team in assists. Her ability to score inside and out are highlighted by school records,” said Chargers coach Tim Koisti. “She went 8 for 10 from the 3-point line to set the single game record. She also set the single-season record for free throw percentage and she was seconds in rebounds per game. Her ball handling skills and passing ability made it difficult for teams to pressure us.”

Second Team

Caylin Kelly, Florence-Henry. “Awesome kid with a motor that never stops,” said Florence-Henry coach Mitch Reed. “She works extremely hard and is very coachable. She will be fun to watch at the next level.”

Honorable Mention

Ava Hanson, Aberdeen Roncalli. “Ava has put in more time than any player we have had at Roncalli. She has always been a good player, but has turned herself into a better player by putting in so much time in the gym,” said Roncalli coach Derek Larson. “She has been difficult to guard because she can go inside and outside.”

Redfield’s Katie Rozell (32) looks for a teammate as she turns away from the back court pressure from Aberdeen Roncalli’s Claire Crawford, left and Ava Hanson, back left, during a Region 1A game this past season at the Roncalli High School gym. Katie Rozell, Redfield. “Kate is a very well-rounded basketball player that can make an impact on the game in many ways. Over the past three seasons she has led us in scoring, rebounding and assists,” said Redfield coach Tommy Gregg. “She is also an excellent defender, that rebounds well, anticipates well and can guard many position types.”

Sisseton’s Hannah Leverson, right, moves the ball up the floor as Vermillion’s Taylor Reuvers, left, closes in on defense during a semifinal game at the Class A State Basketball Tournament this past season at Dacotah Bank Center in Brookings. Photo by John Davis taken 3/8/2024

Hannah Leverson, Sisseton. “Hannah is one of most under-looked point guards in the state. She does so much on the floor that the normal basketball fan is not able to pick up on,” said Sisseton coach Sara Lincoln. “She creates so much for her teammates and makes everything look so effortless.”

CLASS AA

Second Team

Aberdeen Central’s Taryn Hermansen, left, tries to move the ball around Mitchell’s Allison Meyerink, center, during a game earlier this season at the Golden Eagles Arena. Taryn Hermansen, Aberdeen Central. “Taryn has been an integral part of our offense since her eighth-grade year. She put up her numbers while frequently drawing two to three defenders, and improved defensively throughout the season,” said Central coach Mikayla Arechigo. “Taryn spends a great deal of time in the gym and in the weight room working on expanding her game in and out of season.”

CLASS B

Second Team

Stevie Wittler, Sully Buttes. “Stevie’s mastery of the game, coupled with her diverse skill set allows her to excel in various aspects of basketball, including scoring, playmaking, defense, and teamwork,” said Sully Buttes coach Susie Rilling.
