CHESTER – Led by sprinter Shawnteah La Croix, Aberdeen Christian athletes collected numerous top-10 finishes during the Chester track and field meet on Tuesday.

La Croix played a role in three runner-up finishes for the Knights. The sophomore finished second in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, and also ran on the second place 400-meter relay team. La Croix also ran on the third place 800-meter relay team.

La Croix set a new school record in the 100 in a time of 12.69 seconds, breaking the former mark of 12.74 seconds set by Lydia Kline.

“It was great to be able to run with some really fast teams,” said Christian coach Sam Bjorkman, noting in particular squads from Colman-Egan and Parker.

Ali Isakson, who was seventh in the 200 and seventh in the long jump, also ran on all both of those relay squads, as did Payton Skarin and Lauren Meyers.

“Our girls 4×1 was fairly strong, solid handoffs, and good to have a nice time down,” Bjorkman said. “Feels like we’re usually pressing early to put together a good race to try to qualify to run at Howard Wood. Our girls 4×2 was solid.”

Ella Ellyson finished sixth in the 400, eighth in the 100 in a personal record time, and 10th in the 200 for Christian.

On the boys’ side, Dylan Hofer had Christian’s top finish taking sixth in the triple jump. Luke Kaiser was seventh in the 200, and the Knights’ 800-meter relay team finished seventh.

“Dylan keeps getting a little better each meet,” Bjorkman said.
