BROOKINGS - Athletes from across the region recorded solid performances during the Scott Underwood Invitational indoor track and field meet in Brookings on Monday.
Jayden Johnson and Payton Brown of Milbank both captured first place finishes, as did Lucas Johnson of Great Plains Lutheran.
Jayden Johnson won the pole vault with teammate Samuel Rick second. Brown won the 3,200-meter run with teammate James Batchelor third. Lucas Johnson won the high jump.
Meanwhile a pair of Lake Region Conference girls each finished runner-up. Aberdeen Christian's Shawnteah La Croix was second in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, and Ella Boekelheide of Northwestern was second in the 800-meter run.
La Croix was second to Arlington's Chloe Raw, who was runner-up in both sprint races at last year's Class B state meet.
"It was a solid day for Shawnteah," said Christian coach Sam Bjorkman. "Obviously, Chloe Raw is running amazingly well."
