A group of area boys’ athletes are making their presence felt in the Class A portion of the track and field leaders.

Kaleb Foltz of Tri-State leads the class in a pair of open events. Foltz clocked a time of :49.92 in the 400-meter dash and a time of 1:57.51 in the 800-meter run.

Hamlin’s Cristhian Rodriguez tops the field in the javelin with a mark of 165 feet.

Simon Fried of Mobridge-Pollock is currently second in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, fifth in the long jump, and sixth in the triple jump.

Milbank’s Samuel Rick is second in the triple jump, and fourth in the pole vault.

Among the other leaders is Matthew Mount of Webster who is third in both the shot put and discus, Zac VanMeeteren who is third in the 200-meter dash, and Milbank’s Jayden Johnson who is third in the pole vault.

Emmett Hanson of Milbank is third in the 300 hurdles, and teammate Payton Brown is fourth in the 3,200-meter run.

The top area girl in Class A is Sisseton’s Chloe Langager who is third in the shot put. Milbank’s Jacy Dexter is fifth in the pole vault with teammate Maggie Kruger seventh. Sierra Wenzl of Milbank is fifth in the 200. The Bulldogs’ 1,600-meter relay team has the fourth best time.

Great Plains Lutheran is second in the sprint medley relay. Mobridge-Pollock is fifth in that event and has the third best time in the 800-meter relay.
