Class B Leaders

Northwestern athletes are setting the pace in multiple events among the Class B track and field leaders this week.

Lincoln Woodring has the fastest time in the 800-meter run at 2:02.68. Woodring is also third in the 1,600-meter run with Melius eighth. Ty Boekelheide has the third best triple jump.

On the girls’ side, Ella Boekelheide has Class B’s best time in the 800-meter run at 2:19.58. She has the second fastest times in the 400-meter dash, 1,600-meter run, and 3,200-meter run. Teammate Tara Blachford is fourth in the 3,200.

Ipswich’s Jalyssa Hutson leads the pole vault with a jump of 9 feet, with teammate Marley Guthmiller second. Madisyn Gellhaus is third in the 1,600.

The Ipswich boys can be found on top of several events. Rasmus Loken tops the pole vault with a jump of 15 feet, 6 inches, while the Tigers have the fastest times in both the 400-meter and 800-meter relays. Kyle Hettich is second in the 100 and third in the 200, and teammate Trevor Heinz is second in the long jump.

Spencer Melius of Faulkton is first in the javelin with a throw of 156 feet, 8 inches.

Castlewood’s Lane Tvedt has the top distance in the triple jump at 41-3 1/2, and is third in the long jump.

Aberdeen Christian’s Shawnteah La Crox has the second-best times in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.

Herreid-Selby Area tops the field in both the 400-meter relay and 800-meter relay. Wolverines’ sprinter Breanna Jochim is fourth in the 200 and fifth in the 100.

Faulkton’s Carley Cotton is third in the 100-meter hurdles, while teammate Savanna Hayes is second in the javelin.

Other top five area leaders in the boys are Hunter Cramer of Warner who is fourth in the 110-meter high hurdles, Sean Seuer of Potter County who is fourth in the 100 and fifth in the 200, Kalen Godel of Langford Area who is fourth in the 800, Leola’s Dustin Wurtz who is third in the shot put and discus, Erik Salmen of Hitchcock-Tulare who is fourth in the discus, and Camron Eng of Castlewood who is fifth in the 100.

Area leaders in the girls include Emma Schlachter of Potter County who is fifth in the 800, Autumn Fallis of Highmore-Harrold who is fifth in the 3,200, Kayden Cronin of Potter County who is fourth in the triple jump, Kaylin Dorris of Wolsey-Wessington who is tied for third in the javelin, and a trio of athletes who are tied for fifth in two different events: Tatum Luce of Wolsey-Wessington, Miah Leidholt of Warner, and Sofia Losure of Frederick in the high jump, and Jordyn Jensen of Warner, Bayleann Moen of Langford Area, and Kathryn Kilber of Ipswich in the pole vault.

In relays, Wolsey-Wessington is second and Northwestern third in the boys’ sprint medley, Potter County is third in the girls’ 1,600 and 3,200, and Ipswich is fourth in the medley and fifth in the 3,200.
