SPEARFISH – Aberdeen Central took a lead before Spearfish took control Friday night.

The Golden Eagles scored the first two runs in the top of the first inning and then Spearfish exploded for 17 unanswered runs en route to a 17-2 four-inning non-conference softball victory.

Central loaded the bases with two outs to start the contest and scored a pair of runs when Reese Comstock was hit by a pitch, and Addison Ward drove in a run with a single.

However, the hosts quickly stole the momentum with three runs in the bottom half of the first inning, two coming in on a home run by Kiana Stahlecker.

The Spartans added three more runs in the second inning as Stahlecker had another RBI hit.

Spearfish then broke the game open with seven runs in the third as the Spartans produced three run-scoring extra-base hits in the frame.

Stahlecker then ended the game on the 15-run rule by hitting a three-run home run in the fourth inning. She finished with three hits, scored three runs and knocked in seven.

Kylee Hoffman had three of Aberdeen’s five hits in the contest.

The Golden Eagles are right back at it this morning when they take on Rapid City Central at 10.
