GPL girls, Hamlin boys have big day at Cyclone Invitational

CLARK – The Great Plains Lutheran girls and Hamlin boys won a variety of events during the Cyclone Invitational track and field meet on Tuesday.

Katherine Prahl and Sophie Kannas of GPL both won two open events and ran on a winning relay squad. Prahl won the 100-meter and 300-meter intermediate hurdles, while Kannas won the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Both were members of the first place 400-meter relay team. Teammate Halle Bauer topped the fields in the 400-meter dash and 3,200-meter run.

Hamlin’s Shayne Fritz won the girls’ high jump and long jump.

On the boys’ side, a trio of Hamlin boys accounted for five victories. Luke Fraser won the 200 and Zac VanMeeteren won the 400. They joined Rylan Thue for wins in three relay races for the Chargers.

Webster’s Matthew Mount won the shot put and the discus.
