A look back at some of the sports happenings during the week of April 21-27: Last year on April 24, 2023: Aberdeen native Paiton Burckhard played in 165 games in her five-year career as a SDSU women’s basketball player. She missed only one game in five seasons (2018-23). Burckhard now is tied for the second-most career games played in the history of NCAA women’s basketball. Victaria Saxton (2018-23) of South Carolina has the record with 166 games played. Jordan Lewis of Alabama/Baylor also played in 165 career games from 2017-22. 10 years ago on April 26, 2014: In his final home game on the mound on Senior Day, Presentation College senior Chad Ellingson pitched all 15 innings in a 1-0 win over Dakota State. His numbers: 179 pitches, 53 batters faced, zero walks, five hits allowed and worked through six errors his team committed.
