Nesheim, VanMeeteren each part of four wins at De Smet meet

De SMET – Kamryn Nesheim of Clark-Willow Lake, and Hamlin’s Zac VanMeeteren each played a role in four victories during the De Smet Invitational track and field meet on Thursday.

Nesheim won the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs, and also ran on Clark-Willow Lake’s winning sprint medley and 3,200-meter relay squads.

VanMeeteren won the 200-meter dash, and was part of the Chargers’ first place 400-meter, 800-meter, and 1,600-meter relay teams.

The Miller boys had a pair of double individual event winners during the meet. Alex Schumacher won the 800 and 1,600 runs, while teammate Isaak Hunter won the 110-meter high hurdles and 300-meter intermediate hurdles. Hamlin’s Cristhian Rodriguez won the shot put and discus events.

Sunshine Bible won four relay races on the day, taking the 800-meter and 1,600-meter races in the girls’ division, and the sprint medley and 3,200-meter relays on the boys’ side.

Other area boys individual winners during the meet included Castlewood’s Camron Eng in the 100-meter dash, Caleb Richmond of Wolsey-Wessington in the 400, and Miller’s Pierce Baumberger in the 3,200. Other area girls individual winners were Gracen Werdel of Miller in the 400, Clark-Willow Lake’s Emma Bochek in the 800 and Sara Thonvold in the 100 hurdles, and Hamlin’s Marissa Bawdon in the long jump.
