Potter County athletes win multiple events at early bird meet

ONIDA – Athletes from Potter County won a dozen events during the Sully Buttes Early Bird track and field meet on Tuesday.

The Battlers won eight events in the girls’ division. Megan Seurer won the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and also ran on the winning 800-meter relay squad. Emma Schlachter won the 800-meter run, and Danika Kaup won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, and both were part of first place teams in the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter relays. Kayden Cronin won the triple jump and also ran on a winning relay squad.

On the boys’ side, Potter County’s Carter Luikens won the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes, while teammate Nicholas Schlachter won the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs.

Faulkton’s Spencer Melius won three events, taking the 110-meter high hurdles, the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, and the javelin. Savana Hayes of Faulkton won the girls’ discus and javelin, and teammate Presleigh Martinmaas won the girls’ high jump.

Other winners included Warner’s Alex Pudwill in the boys’ discus, and Addisyn Heinrich who won the girls’ 400-meter dash and ran on the winning sprint medley relay squad, Highmore-Harrold’s Carson Stephenson in the boys’ 800, and Autumn Fallis in the girls’ 1,600; and North Central’s Kaidence Bulgin in the girls’ 100 hurdles, as well as the boys’ medley relay.
