SIOUX FALLS – Aberdeen Roncalli overcame the strong windy conditions to score 8-1 tennis victories over Madison, Vermillion and Spearfish during the Madison Invitational in Sioux Falls on Thursday.

“Up and down tennis as you would expect with a super long, super windy day,” said Roncalli coach Jason Haskell. “Boys handle the day well and I was very proud of their effort today.”

The event marked the return of Roncalli senior Cason Hellwig who has been out recently with injury. Hellwig did not compete in singles, but was involved in three doubles victories.

“It was good to finally have Cason back at number one doubles,” Haskell said. “We look forward to him feeling well enough to resume number one singles.”

The Cavaliers won flights two through six in all three duals and did not drop a doubles match on the day.

Roncalli will remain in Sioux Falls where they will compete in a tourney the next two days.
