Roncalli splits pair of matches on cold, blustery day

MILBANK - Aberdeen Roncalli was able to overcome the elements on the way to splitting a pair of tennis matches on Thursday. The Cavaliers rolled past Milbank and came up just short in a 5-4 setback to Huron. "We played well. Huron has a solid program and to come away with a 4-5 loss felt good," said Roncalli coach Jason Haskell. "Milbank is not nearly as poor as the final scores showed, either. We had to really focus to get our wins." Palmer Johnson, Gannon May and Landon Zikmund each went undefeated in singles for the Cavaliers, while Johnson and May teamed up to win both of their top flight doubles matches. Haskell was pleased with the way his players battled through the harsh conditions. "I usually try not to give much credence to any outside factors, but the wind and the cold were ever-present today," Haskell said.
