W-I-N opens season with victory over Sioux Valley

VOLGA - Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern collected 10 hits and seven walks to help fuel a 9-5 win over Sioux Valley in high school baseball action Friday night. Devon Fischbach and Alec Mikkelsen both reached base four times in the victory. Fischbach had three hits and a walk, and scored four times. Mikkelsen also had three hits and a walk, and scored twice. Dawson Ward finished with two hits and knocked in three runs. Fischbach and Xavier Kadlec started out the game with back-to-back doubles in a three-run first inning for W-I-N. Mikkelson and Ward each delivered RBI singles in the frame. Ward also drove in runs in the fifth and sixth innings, one on a bases-loaded walk and another on a bases-loaded hit by pitch.
