W-I-N rallies past Redfield for baseball victory

NORTHVILLE – Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pave the way to a 6-4 win over the Redfield Muskrats in high school baseball action on Sunday.

Gavin Lane delivered a two-run double to highlight the frame, bringing in Dawson Ward and Chays Mansfield as W-I-N erased a 3-2 deficit.

Redfield got one back in the top of the seventh on Micah Zastrow’s bases-loaded walk, but the Muskrats hit into a double play to end the game. W-I-N also recorded a double play to get out of jam after Redfield had scored two runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead.

The teams traded runs throughout the contest. W-I-N jumped in front in the second inning when Drew Bakeberg drove in Lane. Redfield answered back when Ethan Fall doubled in Zastrow. Logan Fischbach had an RBI double in the fifth to give W-I-N another temporary advantage, before the squads exchanged leads one more time sixth inning.

Lane finished with a pair of hits and drove in a pair to lead the victory. Logan Fischbach also had two hits.

Zastrow’s two hits topped Redfield.

Levi Little struck out six batters in his start for W-I-N. Redfield’s Eli Morrissette had 11Ks, before being relieved in the fifth.
