MASON CITY, Ia. – The Aberdeen Wings not only won their regular-season finale Saturday night, but got a little help to move up to third place in the Central Division standings.

Aberdeen’s 3-2 win over North Iowa, coupled with Austin’s loss to St. Cloud, catapulted the Wings into the third position for the upcoming North American Hockey League playoffs which begin on Friday. Aberdeen will face the Bismarck Bobcats in a best 3 out of 5 series with Bismarck having the home-ice advantage.

The Wings received goals from three different players in their win over North Iowa. Ryan Flaherty and Jibber Kuhl each scored in the opening period, and Salvatore Collora produced what proved to be the game-winner in the second period. Zach Reim had a pair of assists on those goals.

Meanwhile, Croix Kochendorfer stopped 24 shots in goal for Aberdeen.
