BRANDON – Aberdeen Central struck first, but Brandon Valley struck most in an Eastern South Dakota Conference softball contest on Thursday.

The Golden Eagles were unable to hold on to an early lead in falling to Brandon Valley 13-3.

Central plated three runs in the top of the first inning as Avery Bendewald and Rachel Siefken each singled, before an error produced the first run. Addyson Keller drove in the second run on a bases-loaded walk, and Ayrlie Waldo scored the third run on a wild pitch.

However, it was all Brandon Valley after that.

The Lynx scored nine times in the bottom of the second inning, thanks in part to five hits, including three doubles. The hosts later ended the game on the 10-run rule in the fifth when they scored three more runs on four hits, including a pair of doubles.

Alivia Roettele had Central’s other hit in the contest.

The Golden Eagles finished the regular season at 4-13 and will now head to SoDak 16 action on Tuesday.
