Several area athletes took advantage of one of the few meets in the past week to move up Class A track and field leaders this week.

Deuel’s Robert Begalka now has the fifth best throw in the discus after not being in the top eight a week ago. He is also sixth in the shot put. Teammate Oliver Fieber also improved his time and position in the 100-meter dash going from sixth to fourth. He is also third in the 200.

Miller’s Isaak Hunter has climbed into the leaders in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles and currently has the eighth-best time.

Kaleb Foltz of Tri-State continues to lead the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run, and is eighth in the 1,600. Chisthian Rodriguez of Hamlin has the top mark in the javelin, and Milbank’s Emmett Hanson is second in the 110-meter high hurdles, and third in the 300 hurdles.

Other Milbank athletes in the top five include Samuel Rick who is second in the triple jump, Jayden Johnson who is third in the pole vault, and Payton Brown who is fourth in the 3,200.

Simon Fried of Mobridge-Pollock is second in the 300 hurdles, and Hamlin’s Zac VanMeeteren is fourth in the 200.

On the girls’ side, Chloe Langager of Sisseton is third in the shot put, while Milbank’s Jacy Dexter and Deuel’s Makia Moe are tied for fifth in the pole vault.

The highest rated relay team is Great Plains Lutheran which is second in the Sprint Medley relay.
