Class A Leaders

Aberdeen Roncalli’s Parker Grieben has hurdled his way into this week’s Class A track and field leaders.

The junior is now among the top eight athletes in the 110-meter high hurdles following his time at the Northeast Conference meet last week. Grieben has the seventh best time in that event.

Hamlin athletes continue to be found in multiple events on the boys’ side. Cristhian Rodriguez has the top throw in the javelin and is third in the discus. Zac VanMeeteren is second in the 200-meter dash and fifth in the 100. The Chargers are currently fourth in the 400-meter relay.

Milbank also has a variety of boys’ leaders. Jayden Johnson is second in the pole vault, Samuel Rick is third in the triple jump, Payton Brown is second in the 800 and fifth in the 3,200, and Emmett Hanson of Milbank is fifth in the 110 hurdles. The Bulldogs are also third in the sprint medley relay, and third in the 3,200 relay.

Other area athletes in the top five include Kaleb Foltz of Tri-State who is third in both the 400 and 800, and fifth in the 1,600, Deuel’s Robert Begalka who is fourth in the shot put, and Simon Fried of Mobridge-Pollock who is fifth in the long jump.

On the girls’ side Kamryn Nesheim of Clark-Willow Lake is now in two open events. The eighth-grader has moved into the fifth position of the 1,600-meter run following her performance at the NEC meet. She is also seventh in the 800.

Also among the top five area athletes are Chloe Langager of Sisseton who is fourth in the discus, Siera Wenzl of Milbank who is fifth in the 400, Makia Doe of Deuel who is fourth in the pole vault, and Jacy Dexter of Milbank who is tied for fifth in the pole vault.

Groton currently has the fifth best time in the 1,600-meter relay.
