Great Plains Lutheran extends title streaks at ECC meet

BRITTON – Great Plains Lutheran continued to control life atop the Eastern Coteau Conference track and field meet on Tuesday. The Panthers won their 18th consecutive boys’ conference title, and their 14th straight girls’ crown.

The GPL boys were led by Micah Holien, who won the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, and also ran on the winning 1,600-meter relay squad.

Abigail Kjenstad won the high jump, long jump, and triple jump as well as running on the first place 800-meter relay team for the GPL girls. Halle Bauer won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200, while Sophie Kannas won the 100 and 200, and Katherine Prahl won the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles. Kannas and Prahl were also members of winning 400-meter and 800-meter relays.

Other winners of two open events included Kaleb Foltz of Tri-State in the 400 and 800, Tucker Keller of Florence-Henry in the 100 and 300 hurdles, Brady Eschen of Waverly-South Shore in the shot put and discus, and Shali Laurence of Tri-State in the girls’ shot put and discus.
