Hamlin, Clark-Willow Lake take Region 1B titles

WATERTOWN – The Hamlin boys and the Clark-Willow Lake girls led by their medalists, captured team championships at the Region 1B Golf Tournament at Cattail Crossing on Monday.

Aiden Abraham of Hamlin won the boys’ individual title with a 72, three strokes better than Larz Tvedt of Castlewood. Hamlin topped Castlewood by 17 strokes in team points.

Aberdeen Christian was unable to advance any golfers to the state tournament. Ellis Russell who finished 26st, led the Knights with a 93, but fell three strokes off the cut.

Becker Bosma finished 31st with a 99, two spots ahead of teammate Jett Johnson with a 100.

“It was fun to watch my guys compete,” said Christian coach Tyler Pridey. “They played their best golf last Monday at pre-regions and helped us place in the top 10. … I’m grateful I got to be a part of this time in their lives. I was honored to be their coach again as usual.”

Brynn Roehrich of Clark-Willow Lake shot a 78 to win the girls’ individual crown by 11 strokes over runner-up Olivia Karst of Castlewood.

Clark-Willow Lake won the girls’ team title by 15 strokes over second-place Webster.
