Sioux Valley sweeps team titles at LCC meet

De SMET – Sioux Valley won both the boys’ and girls’ team championships during the Lake Central Conference track and field meet on Tuesday.

Deuel was second in the boys’ division, and Clark-Willow Lake finished runner-up in the girls’ division.

On the boys’ side, Hamlin received wins from Zac VanMeeteren in the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes, Cristhian Rodriguez in the discus and Evan Stormo in the javelin. Deuel got victories from Oliver Fieber in the 100, Robert Begalka in the shot put, and Lane Tvedt in the long jump. Castlewood, Deuel, and Clark-Willow Lake each won a relay.

In the girls’ division, Clark-Willow Lake received wins from Nevaeh Reitz in the 200, and Kamryn Nesheim in the 1,600. Deuel’s Kayden Russell won the javelin and teammate Makia Moe won the pole vault, and Hamlin’s Marissa Bawdon won the long jump, and Shayne Fritz won the triple jump. Kelly Goens of Castlewood won the 300 hurdles. Deuel won the 800-meter relay.
