GROTON – Groton collected 29 runs on 23 hits in a doubleheader sweep over Milbank in American Legion baseball Friday night. The hosts won the first game 19-11, and took the second contest 10-0 in four innings on a no-hitter by Carter Simon.

Groton plated eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break an 11-11 tie in the opener.

The two teams traded big innings throughout the contest.

Milbank scored four runs in the second inning, two on a Dillen Scheeley double, added three more in the fourth, two on Ryan Rabe’s double, and four runs in the fifth thanks in part to another two-run double from Rabe.

Groton countered with six runs in the second inning as Brevin Fliehs and Althoff each had two-run doubles, and five runs in the fourth when Simon had a two-run double, and Imrie drove in a run with a single.

Imrie finished the game with four hits and knocked in three, Dillon Abeln followed with three hits. Althoff contributed a game-high five RBI. Simon had two hits and drove in three.
