Groton wins fourth straight with victory over Senators

CLARK – Groton scored in every inning but two on the way to a 16-4 victory over the Clark-Willow Lake Senators in American Legion baseball action on Wednesday night.

Groton, which has now won four in a row, had 10 hits, and took advantage of 10 walks, seven wild pitches and six errors in the contest.

The visitors scored 10 runs in the first five innings, six of them coming in on wild pitches or errors. Groton tacked on six runs in the seventh as Karsten Fliehs, Dillon Abeln and Colby Dunker each drove in runs with hits. Groton had half of its hits in that frame.

Bradin Altoff led Groton with three hits and also scored three times. Abeln had two hits, while Althoff, Dunker, Fliehs and Nick Morris each drove in a pair.

Clark-Willow Lake received a pair of hits from Michael Severson.

A quartet of Groton pitchers combined on a three-hitter with 14 total strikeouts.
