BROOKINGS – Brynn Roehrich of Clark-Willow Lake, and Gavin Colson of Sully Buttes won individual championships during Class B State Golf Tournaments in Brookings on Tuesday.
Roehrich shot a round of 73 for a two-day total of 152, winning the girls’ crown by six strokes at Edgebrook Golf Course. Miller’s Jayce Pugh finished second with a 36-hole score of 158.
Taryn Hettick of Selby Area was fourth with a 172, and Deuel’s Annika Kriz, Olivia Olson of Sully Buttes, and Olivia Mikkelsen of Potter County were part of a four-way tie for fifth with rounds of 173. Miller’s Kaihlyn Anderberg was 10th with a 175.
Other area golfers in the top 25 included Hamlin’s Eva Koisti (180) who tied for 13th, while Maize Baumann of Selby Area (184) tied for 19th.
Chester won the team crown, 13 strokes ahead of Miller. Clark-Willow Lake was third.

Colson edged Ipswich’s Chet Peterson and Taylor Kriech of Colman-Egan by two strokes to win the boys’ title at Brookings Country Club.
Other top 10 area finishers included Logan Vavruska of Florence-Henry and Miller’s Derek Brueggeman who both shot 156, and Wesley Wittler of Sully Buttes who tied for eighth with a 157.
There were nine other golfers who finished among the top 25 in the tourney. Jackson Wadsworth of Hamlin (159) and Seth Hettick of Edmunds Central (159) tied for 12th, Hamlin’s Luke Fraser (160) was 14th, Faulkton’s Drake Mueller (161) tied for 15th, Blaize Amdahl of Webster (162), Harrison Beyers of Edmunds Central (162), and Aiden Abraham of Hamlin (162) were part of a seven-way tie for 18th, and Kaiden Weinreis of Doland (163) and Lane Tvedt of Castlewood (163) tied for 25th.
Wessington Springs won the boys’ team championship by a single stroke over Hanson. Hamlin was just three strokes off the pace. Ipswich finished fourth.
