Area squads rated in final amateur baseball polls

WATERTOWN — The Renner Monarchs (Class A) and Winner-Colome Pheasants (Class B) lead their respective divisions in the final South Dakota amateur baseball poll of the season.

Unbeaten Redfield Dairy Queen is rated fourth in Class B, the Milbank Firechiefs are seventh, and the Lake Norden Lakers are 10th.

Postseason play opens for many of the state’s teams this week.

Here is this week’s complete poll:

Class B — 1. Winner-Colome Pheasants (17-1); 2. Dell Rapids Mudcats (19-2); 3. Tabor Bluebirds (11-5); 4. Redfield Dairy Queen (15-0); 5. Canova Gang (13-6); 6. Flandreau Cardinals (10-10); 7. Milbank Firechiefs (13-2); .8. Larchwood (Iowa) Diamonds (15-5); 9. Alexandria Angels (13-4); 10. Lake Norden Lakers (14-5). Also receiving votes: Humboldt-Hartford Gamecocks (13-6), Lesterville Broncs (8-7-1) and Crofton (Neb.) Bluejays (9-9). 

Class A — 1. Renner Monarchs (10-3); 2. Sioux Falls Brewers (10-5); 3 Brookings Cubs (14-4); 4. Mitchell Aces (10-3); 5. Yankton Tappers (16-3). Also receiving votes: Tea Steam (13-3) and Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels (6-9).
